Diggs to South Carolina

Island Coast (Cape Coral, FL) safety Jordan Diggs committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

"Carolina was the perfect school for me," said South Carolina's newest commitment, 6-foot-1, 194-pound safety Jordan Diggs. "It's safe to say that you can use the term that 'Carolina chose me.'

"I took my official there (in late November) and everything was perfect. I had taken four officials prior to Carolina and from the moment I walked into Williams-Brice Stadium, there was something: a little feeling that came over me. In the back of my mind, I kinda knew that Carolina was the place for me.

"After being through so much spectating and looking at the in's and out's of Carolina - Carolina happened to be the perfect place for me."

Which other programs had a legitimate shot and when did Diggs reach his decision?

"I was definitely thinking it was Carolina, Tennessee or Vanderbilt," he said.

"This morning, I knew (it was the Gamecocks). Actually, when I laid in the bed last night I just closed my eyes, envisioned myself at all three schools, and there was just something about Carolina.

"In the back of my mind, I kinda already knew it was Carolina, but I wanted to give everybody a hard look. All three are great schools."

Diggs and the East lost to the West, 24-12. The nation's 25th-ranked safety, Diggs had a huge hit on a special teams play.
