Gage Headed to LSU JR Day

Donald Gage has been extremely busy since the start of 2012, participating in both the Under Armour and U.S. Army National Combines. Scout talked with Gage after each of the aforementioned events about his respective performances, and the junior WR from Redemptorist in Baton Rouge also talked about the upcoming LSU Junior Day.

"I like that I got the chance to be there (at the Army Combine)," said Donald Gage. "The one-on-one drills were fun. We didn't get as many reps as I would have liked, but it was enough for me to prove myself. I met new people from Oklahoma and Washington and Noel Ellis (from Edna Karr in Algiers). (Ellis) is a cool dude.

"The wide receivers coach at the Army Combine said he had coached a lot of guys in the pros. He gave me some tips on positioning and route-running, and I capitalized on them."

This weekend, Gage will attend LSU's first Junior Day.

"They called me there for a reason," said Gage. "I hope they offer. Shelby Christy and Noel Ellis will also be there. I'm also interested in TCU, Miami, Arkansas and Georgia Tech. Arkansas is showing the most love with mail."

What did Gage say following the Under Armour combine?

"I competed hard and it went good," he said. "I measured at 6-foot and 171 pounds. I ran a 4.6."

Gage says LSU is looking at him on the defensive side of the ball.

"They're recruiting me as a DB," he said. "The other schools are talking about offense. I'm going to the Arkansas camp where I will compete hard and try to get what I want: an offer."

Gage mentioned Ellis - the junior CB from Edna Karr - after each combine. He also had praise for Barbe TE Desean Smith following the UA event.

Gage won a gold medal in the long jump at last year's Junior Olympics.
