Avery Gennesy is an offensive lineman from Southaven, MS who is moving up in the ranks as signing day approaches. Who has moved up in importance for the big man? What schools currently have the lead? We caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Avery Gennesy profile

Gennesy has gained a lot of attention from coaches since the end of the season, and his selection to the Mississippi/ Alabama High School game only seemed to further his importance to schools around the southeast.

He currently holds offers from Arkansas State, UAB, Southern Miss, and Arkansas State.

What is the latest update on his recruitment?

"The same teams that have been recruiting me, they are continuing to come after me," he said. "I am still hearing from the four schools who have offered the most."

Gennesy said he is in no hurry to decide, and he plans on waiting until signing day to make his final decision.

He said he plans on making a visit to Hattiesburg to visit Southern Miss this weekend. "Coach Peavy started talking to me when this staff came on board, he said they were real high on me," he added.

"They said they really wanted me to come on board work hard, and earn a spot next year."

He doesn't know of any plans to visit any school at this time, but he said that could change.

"I have quick feet, I play physical, and I am a guy who comes out with energy every day along with leadership," he said when asked what he could bring to a program.

"I am playing basketball right now to help with my footwork. Basketball is a way to keep me in shape for football."
