Wilson Set to Be a Ute

Quarterback Travis Wilson returned to California today after spending the weekend visiting Utah.

San Clemente High School (CA) quarterback Travis Wilson was the first commit in Utah's 2012 class when he gave his verbal to the Utes last May. With only two weeks left until National Signing Day, Wilson is sticking with that commitment.

The 6'6', 210 lb. prospect took his official visit to Salt Lake City over the weekend and returned to California feeling comfortable and happy with the program he will soon be joining.

"It was really good. We went to dinner and hung out with the players. I met a couple of guys on the visit, and I met another guy that's going there named Delshawn McClellon."

One of the advantages of spending time on campus was the opportunity to talk with Utah's current quarterback. "Jordan Wynn was my host. He talked to me a lot about playing quarterback there and what to expect and stuff."

The trip solidified Wilson's commitment. "It definitely helped me get used to everything and definitely helped me figure out everything," he said.

Wilson will enroll at Utah two days after signing day. "I'm waiting until the end of the semester; my semester doesn't end until February 3rd."

The coaches might not have a specific plan in mind for when Wilson arrives on campus, but he's ready to prove he belongs on the field. "There's not really a plan. I'll just come in and start working out and start working hard. You never know what's going to happen," he said.
