"Washington hadn't really talked to me much until coach (Keith) Heyward got there," Shelton told Dawgman.com recently. "I thought about it and I wanted to at least visit there to see what the school had to offer and to meet with all of the coaches.
"I'm still a commit to Oregon State, but yeah, I'm looking around. Washington is a school I'm seriously considering, but I need to find out a lot more about the program, the coaches and the school before I can decide on what I want to do."
Shelton also plans to visit Tennessee before he signs with a school on February 1st.
"It's all really confusing right now," Shelton noted. "I was all set with Oregon State, but coach Heyward left and now he's at Washington, so that sorta changed a lot of my plans.
"I want to take these visits and then I feel like I can make an educated decision."
Shelton took a visit to Nebraska last week and was "blown away" while he was in Lincoln.
"They have a great tradition there and they play big-time football for sure," Shelton said. "I loved my time there, but honestly, I've liked both of my visits so far.
"Washington also has a lot of tradition; I do know that and they play in a great conference and my family can watch me play every week (on T.V.).
"I just need to take these visits so I can find the right place for me. That might be Oregon State, it might be U-Dub, it might be Nebraska, it might be Tennessee. I'm not really sure right now, but I hopefully will be after I take my visits."
We will have more from Shelton after his official visit ends on Sunday.
