Jefferson Relieved

A.J. Jefferson took an official visit to Mississippi State last weekend and offered his commitment to the Bulldogs' coaching staff. A.J. was warmly received and as far as Jefferson was concerned, his recruitment was over. Since making his college decision, Jefferson has been the subject of some pretty elaborate rumors and innuendo. The talented defensive end just laughs it off.

"I am not sure where all of this stuff comes from," said Jefferson. "I just do my best to try and ignore all of that.

"I can't control what other people say and I know everybody has their own opinion, but my mind hasn't changed at all."

The intensity that some programs have shown over the course of the last week has certainly made an impact on Jefferson.

"I am relieved to have it all over with," said Jefferson. "Some of the other schools started coming at me harder, but it didn't change anything."

Coach Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss made a final push in an attempt to get Jefferson on campus this weekend.

"They offered Vernon (Butler) today and tried to get me, him and Snoop (Travez Taylor) to come up there today," said Jefferson. "Vernon is not going up there and I am on my way over to Columbia to watch my sister's basketball game."

In addition to some wild rumors, Jefferson's week has been filled with some well wishes.

"I have heard from just about all of the guys who are committed to Mississippi State," said Jefferson. "I have heard from them on facebook and the DB from Alabama (Kivon Coman) hit me up in twitter.

"I have everybody's number and we're all staying in touch with each other now."

A.J. reports that he is set to sign with Coach Dan Mullen's Bulldogs on Wednesday.
