"It went really good," he said. "I really enjoyed it.
"All the guys were cool, and it was cool to meet all of the staff. I hadn't met all of them with it being a new staff."
Villarrubia expects big things to happen over the next few years.
"There's good energy with this program and I don't see how we won't be successful," he stated. "Coach (Mike) Leach is an awesome guy and he has talent to work with.
"He's methodical with what he says and is very different from any other D-1 coach that I've met. The man is a genius. We did a film study with our position coaches, and I see how Coach Leach's offense is so difficult for opponents to deal with."
Villarrubia is fired up.
"I'm just excited," he said. "I think I'll adjust quickly in college.
"The one thing I really like is how Pullman is such a college town. The people are like family. If someone needed help, you'd see people stop their car and ask if everything was okay.
"It's a good place with a family vibe.
