Kozan Signs On The Dotted Line

Colorado OL prospect Alex Kozan makes his decision to be an Auburn Tiger.

Highlands Ranch, Col.—Ranked the number 16 guard in the country, Alex Kozan made his decision on Monday as he signed with Auburn University over Big 10 schools Iowa and Michigan.

Making several visits to Auburn since last spring, Kozan has developed a very good relationship with the coaching staff including Jeff Grimes. He said that's one of the things that drew him to the Tigers.

"I like a lot of things about Auburn," Kozan said. "I like that it's in the SEC in a great conference. I like Coach (Jeff) Grimes. Coach Chizik is a great coach. I like Coach (Kevin) Yoxall. He's the best strength and conditioning coach in college football. There's a lot of great things about Auburn. It's a good education too."

A 6-4, 295 senior at Valor Christian High, Kozan picked Auburn over Michigan in the end with Iowa as well as many other colleges such as Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, Colorado and Ohio State in the mix.

Kozan, who played in the Semper Fi All-American Game after his senior season, is the seventh offensive line prospect to come on board for the Tigers, who went into the recruiting season with offensive linemen the number one priority for the 2012 recruiting class.

Kozan is the second offensive line prospect to come on board with the Tigers after signing day. Jordan Diamond, a five-star offensive tackle from Simeon High in Chicago, announced on the Friday night after signing day that he is headed to Auburn.

The Tigers must replace three starters on the offensive line, including guard Jared Cooper, who missed much of his senior season as a senior. Asked if the opportunity to play early at Auburn factored into his decision, the All-State lineman said that was the case along with the opportunity to play for Auburn OL coach Jeff Grimes. "It's definitely important. You look at it and you only get four years and so you want to be playing."
