Signing as a Sooner: No. 10

NORMAN, Okla. — It's fitting that the 10th Sooner committed in the 2012 class was the 10th to sign.

Signing Time: 8:54 a.m.

Scout.com Ranking: Three-star

Charles Tapper (DE—6'4.5"/265): Nothing could sway Tapper from his Sooner commitment, not coaching changes (Brent Venables leaving), not other programs potentially moving in on him. He was completely sold on head coach Bob Stoops and the Sooners the whole time. The pass rushing force, who earned offers from Miami, Penn State, Rutgers, San Diego State and West Virginia, along with OU, gets around offensive tackles well and has great technique at the position. Imagine once Bobby Jack Wright gets started working with him.

What he's coming into at the position: The Sooners lose stud Frank Alexander, who racked up a ridiculous 19 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks throughout the 2011 season, as well as Ronnell Lewis, who's declaring for the NFL after managing 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. So, that's 32 tackles for loss and 14 sacks OU is losing, but it still returns David King, along with R.J. Washington, Chuka Ndulue and Geneo Grissom. There's definite depth but room to compete.
