The 6-3, 185-pound Hays had offers from Stephen F. Austin, Midwestern State and Abilene Christian. I know that is not an overly impressive list, but it will be very interesting to see how Hays develops. He has 4.47 speed and runs track for Reagan.
This season he earned All-Class 5A San Antonio honors from the San Antonio Express-News and was unanimous first-team 26-5A All-District. He helped Reagan to the quarterfinals in the playoffs with 55 receptions for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged 19.9 yards per catch and also had eight tackles and an interception playing just a few plays on defense.
"Todd (Monken) really liked the young man throughout the process," said OSU recruiting coordinator Johnny Barr. "He is a good baseball player and Todd thought he had really good ball skills and he catches the football all the time. He has good hands."
Hays' signature and the process of getting all of the paperwork done ended so late that Hays was not mentioned during the OSU Signing Showcase. He is a bonafide Cowboys signee.
