OG/C Cameron Dillard Profile
It was the first visit to Tigertown for Plymouth High School [Canton,
Mich.] prospect Cameron Dillard.
The best part of his trek down south to Tigertown were his conversations
with head coach Dabo Swinney, offensive line coach Robbie
Caldwell and offensive coordinator Chad Morris.
"I really enjoyed myself down there," Dillard said in a Thursday night
interview with CUTigers. "I spent some time with coach Caldwell and
coach Morris. I liked what coach Swinney was saying how it takes a village
to raise a child. Clemson's got the same deal.
"They take you as a young man and make you into a man. That's one thing
that I liked."
His contact with Caldwell began two months ago.
"I keep in regular, weekly contact with him," Dillard said. "As a matter
of fact, I've got to call him tomorrow."
An offer could be in the works.
"[Caldwell] said they just want to get to know me more as a person. They
already know me as a player and what I can do on the field," he said.
Dillard has a connection to South Carolina. Dad's from the Palmetto State
and went to school at The Citadel. His grandparents make their home in
"My dad had been [to Clemson] a few times for football games when he was
at The Citadel," he said.
Dad filled him in on the experience at Death Valley.
"It's crazy. Those fans love their football," Dillard said. "Like that
ESPN thing said, running down that hill is the most exciting 25 seconds in
college football. [Dad] said that's definitely true."
A return trip to Clemson is in the works for the South Carolina. If the
Tigers have offered by then, a January official visit would be planned.
He'll visit Michigan State this weekend for the basketball game against
Michigan, then head to West Virginia, Virginia Tech and a few others
within the next month.
Arizona, Oregon and Missouri have offered. So have Central Michigan,
Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green and Buffalo.
Dillard listed no favorites.
Clemson is recruiting him as an interior lineman.
