Dawson Quickly Adding Offers

Detroit Cass Tech (Mich.) junior OT David Dawson talks about his newest offers and more.

The offers have started flowing for David Dawson, a junior offensive tackle who just moved back to Detroit Cass Tech after playing the fall in Houston.

In recent weeks, Missouri, Baylor, Syracuse, Florida State, Indiana, and Arizona State all offered, making him one of the fastest rising juniors in the region, and he'd like to get out and see those schools and others if possible.

"I'd like to visit most of them really. If I can get there, then I'm going to go some time."

The Florida State Seminoles were one of the 6'4, 290-lb Dawson's first offers, and he says it was great to get.

"It was amazing when I got to talk to Coach Trickett and Coach Stoops and he said they were interested enough in me to extend an offer and I felt honored and blessed. I think it's a great program and great coaches and they're going to do some great things."

Indiana is another offer Dawson was happy to receive because he has a good relationship with the offensive line coach there.

"I spoke with Coach Frey and he said he liked me a lot and likes what he sees on film and I'm one of their top 2013 guys, so that was another honor."

One of the more recent offers was Missouri.

"I talked to Coach Kuligowski. I sent him my film and stuff and he said he liked it and they wanted to extend me an offer as well. He said the offensive line coach liked the film as well and they wanted to get me to Missouri."

As for schools that haven't offered, Dawson says Michigan, Michigan State and Alabama are continuing to show interest.

"I think I'm going up to Michigan State next week, but I don't for sure. Michigan said they want to get me back up on campus, talk to them since I've been gone for so long and meet the coaches again. Coach Funk said he liked what I saw on the tape and he saw improvement from last year, which was good to hear."

With all these offers coming in, Dawson says he has been forced into thinking about a decision, but he's not sure when one would come yet.

"Yeah, I've been thinking about it, but I want to take everything in. If I know which school I want to go to, there's no point in me waiting."

He also has to consider distance now that he is back in the Motor City, but that should not be a problem for this well traveled youngster.

"No. It's not going to have any effect on where I go. I lived down in Texas. I like the South, so that doesn't matter to me."
