Cameron Toney looking at several
"I am recovering from shoulder surgery," said Cameron Toney. "I started back benching yesterday. I got injured the second game of the year. I tore my lambrum.
"I should be 100-percent by spring practice. I am not going to do any contact though. I am going to do a lot of training. I have two more months of physical therapy."
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect is hearing from several schools with the most interest coming from SEC programs.
"Vanderbilt is starting to look at me real good," Toney said. "They are thinking about offering me. I talked to them a week ago. I talked to Auburn's defensive coordinator yesterday. He told me he loves the way I play.
"I am hearing from Tennessee, Mississippi State and LSU. I talked to a coach from Purdue. He said they have an offer for me if I get a chance to come up there. Auburn sounds like they are going to offer soon."
Toney has a verbal offer from the University of Alabama. The Tide added a new coach to the staff in January who is already familiar with the in-state prospect.
"I am still talking to Alabama," Toney said. "Coach Lance Thompson is my new recruiter. He was recruiting me at Tennessee. He told me he always liked me. He wants to build a good relationship. He is a pretty nice guy."
Toney will look at all options during the recruiting process and will wait until next February before announcing a decision.
"I am keeping things open," he said. "I want to go somewhere I can get a good education. I will probably wait and commit on signing day. Everything is open. I am an Alabama fan. I like them a lot, but I want to take all my visits. I'm also starting to like Tennessee, Georgia, LSU and Auburn a little bit."
