Taylor Talks LSU

Vincent Taylor, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive lineman out of San Antonio Madison, talks about LSU Junior Day.

"Being from Louisiana, it felt like home at LSU," said Vincent Taylor. "The coaches told me to come back to spring practice if I want to get an offer. I talked to Coach (John) Chavis and Coach (Brick) Haley, and they said if I want to get recruited as a defensive lineman, then it's best to come to LSU.

"They showed me the highlights of their defensive line. They get after the ball."

Had Chavis and Haley studied Taylor's film prior to the Junior Day?

"As a matter of fact, they said they were watching my film the night before," said Taylor. "They said it was pretty awesome."

Taylor migrated to San Antonio from New Orleans several years ago.

"We moved after Hurricane Katrina," he said. "I lived in the Ninth Ward and would have gone to school at Carver, McDonogh #35 or St. Augustine.

"LSU has always been my top school. I grew up wanting to play for LSU. I also like Baylor. They offered me a scholarship and said I could see the field as a freshman.

"I'm going to Texas Tech this Saturday and feel that they'll offer then. I also have Junior Days coming up at Texas, TCU and Texas A&M."

Taylor is listed as a tackle but feels like he could play end or tackle on the next level.
