Tigers Add STL Speedster As Commit #2

The Missouri Tigers extended some verbal offers to players at their junior day event today and quickly found themselves adding not one, but two verbal commitments, including a St. Louis speedster who made his decision.

It appears to be a successful junior day for the Missouri Tigers as they have reeled in their second commitment of the day from the event with St. Louis (MO) CBC WR/CB Aarion Penton 5'10" 175 (4.43 forty time) deciding to join Joey Burkett as a commit to the Mizzou football program.

"My visit went real well," said Penton to ShowMeMizzou.com about his junior day visit. " It went so well that they offered me an I committed to the Tigers."

Penton said that when he arrived in the morning he was greeted by recruiting coach Cornell Ford and the two talked for a bit. It was later that the offer was extended and Penton decided that he wanted to join the Missouri program and verbally commit.

"I think it was halftime of the basketball game. I didn't expect to get an offer like this so soon. It's a dream come true. Missouri is the first school that I have looked at that I really liked. I was born in Columbia, and moved to St. Louis when I was two. I have always loved Missouri and it will be a dream to play here. I am very excited!"

The speedy Penton helped lead CBC to the Class 6 State Championship game scoring 18 touchdowns receiving, rushing and in the kick return game. He averaged over 21 yard per reception for 842 yards as the Cadets leading receiver, and rushed for over 300 yards. He also was a dangerous return man on punts and kicks, and recorded 50 tackles and 2 INTs from his cornerback position.

I asked Aarion if it was discussed where he would play at Missouri?

" They said they would let me choose where I wanted to play and leave it up to me. I told the coaches that I just want to play wherever I could best help the team. If that's on offense then I am fine with that. If it's at cornerback then I am fine with that. I really don't have a preference."

Penton becomes the second known commitment for the 2013 Missouri class.
