Maclean Taking Junior Day Trips

Grand Blanc (Mich.) junior DE/LB Luke Maclean talks about the latest in his recruitment, including the offers he may add soon.

Cincinnati became the second school to offer Luke Maclean yesterday, joining Buffalo, and the 6'4, 230-lb junior enjoyed his time in the Queen City.

"I went down there and visited and after they showed me the campus, they brought me to Coach Jones' office and he said there is a scholarship there waiting for me if come there play. I like the coaching staff a lot. Coach Stripling, the defensive line coach came in to see me twice and I've been able to build a relationship with them. I got to come down with my parents and they showed us what they had to offer and it was a really good visit."

Maclean has size, 4.7 speed and the ability to play a variety of roles in a defense and that's precisely what the Bearcats like about him.

"They have two linebacker coaches. Coach JJ that coaches inside linebackers and Coach Manning as the outside linebackers coach and then Coach Stripling is the defensive ends coach. They like the fact that, with someone like me, they can be very creative, play me up and play me down and it allows the defensive coordinator to be creative with the scheme. I can go up, drop into coverage and the next play, come off the edge and pass rush."

Maclean has two visits coming up the next three weeks and feels very good about where he stands with those two schools.

"Next week, I have Michigan State. I talk to Coach Barnett, my recruiting coach, very regularly. I've talked to him every week on the phone. They've been watching film. He said they watched it twice and they like what they saw and want me to come down to visit. Then, two weeks after that, I'm visiting Georgia Tech."

Maclean says he has heard more from Iowa and Syracuse recently and has spoken to both of those coaching staffs as well.
