Combs To Visit Salt Lake City

JC DT Marquel Combs is up to 8 offers and talks recruiting and visits

There may not end up being a more heavily recruited junior college defensive lineman on the west coast in 2013 than Marquel Combs. The big man out of Pierce JC is sporting offers from all over the country and is likely to pick up more as the spring and summer roll on.

"Everything is going well. I'm just enjoying it right now. I have offers from Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arizona, Utah, Texas Tech, Kansas State, and FIU. I've also been talking to USC."

Of those schools, Combs has three on top at the moment.

"Arkansas, Arizona, and Texas Tech are standing out right now."

What's it going to take for one school to land the services of the highly touted 6-3, 305 pound lineman?

"I'm looking for a good relationship with the coaches. I also need to feel that the environment is right for me. Playing time as well. That's the biggest thing. I'm looking to go wherever I find the best fit for me, whether it's playing at Utah, FIU, or in Conference USA, I just want the best fit."

As for Utah, the Utes are slowly building a relationship with Combs, who plans on visiting in the spring.

"They're a good program and they're going to be very good in a few years. I like the program a lot. After I take my visit, I may like it even more. I'm thinking about coming up there to watch the spring game. This will be my first time going to Utah."

Combs has been speaking with offensive coordinator Brian Johnson often and has developed an affinity for former Ute quarterback.

"He's a real cool guy. I like his honesty a whole lot. We're just building a relationship right now."

With more schools likely to throw their hat in the ring for his services, Combs has no intentions of making a decision anytime soon.

"I'm going to wait until signing day to decide."

Combs is a mid-year graduate and will be on campus for the school of his choice for 2013 spring practice.

"I graduate in December and will have 3 years to play 2."
