On Sunday, the 6'3, 320-lb Jackson visited Illinois, who has not offered yet, but are showing serious interest, and even though some of the coaching staff has changed, he still has some familiar faces there.
"It was cool. I had fun," he said of the experience. "My defensive line coach is the same coach from last year and they got a new defensive coordinator and head coach. The defensive coordinator was a cool guy and telling me how much they like me. The head coach has lot of energy and that's the kind of coach I want to play for."
While an offer was not extended, Jackson said there are signs the interest is there.
"The defensive coordinator, he kept telling me how he liked me and then the quarterback coach and recruiter from my region, right before I left the basketball game, he was like, 'just tell us what we need to do to get you up here.'"
Right now, it will likely be a wait for whoever lands Jackson, as he hopes to take all the time he needs.
"Probably around Signing Day to be honest," he said of a decision date.
Currently, Jackson does not have any other visits planned.
