Clemson with an offer

On Tuesday afternoon, this offensive lineman from the upper Midwest picked up an offer from Clemson, a school he visited in late January.

Plymouth Canton High School [Plymouth, Mich.] junior Cameron Dillard got the news from Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell.

"It was a great feeling. Being from the south, dad's from South Carolina and mom's from North Carolina, it's just been a good feeling to get that," Dillard told CUTigers on Tuesday.

With their offer, Clemson joins Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Washington and West Virginia.

"Like all offers that I've received, I feel blessed, very appreciative that I'm able to have [them]. I can't thank Clemson's staff enough for having the faith in me," he said.

Dillard learned about the offer when he received an e-mail from Caldwell on Tuesday.

"I gave him a call. He said they were doing conditioning a little earlier this afternoon. He saw a couple of freshmen that are there early working out. He went back to the film room and watched my film, to see how I'd fit in with those guys," Dillard said. "Everybody agreed as a staff that they wanted to offer me, because they're taking only two offensive linemen.

"I didn't get to talk to coach [Dabo] Swinney at the time, because he had to go see the A.D. I'll either be talking to him later tonight or tomorrow afternoon."

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound prospect was non-committal about listing favorites.

"Everything's kind of wide-open right now," he said. "I'm just kind of open-minded with everything. I'm looking at each school, their pros and cons. I'm just kind of taking everything in and seeing where I best fit.

"I want to see which school has the three A's, the athletics, the atmosphere and the academics."

A decision will be made before the start of his senior season.

"That's my goal, my plan right now. I'll just leave it in the air. When I get that gut feeling, that's when I'll know I'm ready to commit," Dillard said.
