South: Top Five Quarterbacks

The South has a nice list of quarterbacks in 2013 and Scout breaks down the top five at that position here in this feature.

South: Top Five Quarterbacks
Hometown: Kingsland, Ga.
High School: Camden County
Size: 6-3/197
Recruiting: Committed to Georgia
Scouting Report: Ramsey lacks a lot of game experience and he is not asked to throw the ball a lot in the Camden County run-oriented offense, but he has all the tools to be special. He throws the ball with ease, he has a quick delivery, he has one of the best arms in the country, and he has good mobility. He makes plays when asked to now, but he has as much upside as anyone.
Hometown: Montgomery, Ala.
High School: Carver
Size: 6-6/210
Recruiting: Auburn has been on top from the beginning. LSU, Ole Miss, and others have offered.
Scouting Report: Johnson is a big quarterback that has no issues seeing down the field or over the line of scrimmage. He is an athlete too with good mobility on the football field. He needs to work on his footwork, transitioning his weight as he throws the football, and his release. He tends to push the ball more than throw it at times. Johnson has a lot of raw talent, he is a tall QB with athleticism, and he has a lot of potential.
Hometown: Mobile, Ala.
High School: McGill-Toolen
Size: 6-1/172
Recruiting: In-state schools Alabama and Auburn have offered, but he says he is keeping things open right now.
Scouting Report: Smith may or may not play quarterback on the next level. He loves to have the ball in his hands, so that is his first choice, but he may end up at wide receiver. As a QB, he is very dangerous when plays break down, when he is able to use his speed, and when he can make plays in space. He is very raw as a passer, so do not be surprised if he is moved to another position on Scout in the future. What Smith is, is a play-maker.
Hometown: Fayetteville, Ark.
High School: Fayetteville
Size: 6-2/205
Recruiting: Arkansas has offered among others and the Razorbacks are looked at as the school to beat with his brother playing there and his father coaching there.
Scouting Report: Allen has a very good feel for the game at quarterback. He is a coach's son and it shows. He has very good pocket awareness, he does a nice job of scanning the field, and he can make plays with his arm and his legs. He is a pure passer with above average size and an above average arm. His release is a little low, but he gets rid of the ball quickly. He has shown the ability to throw short, intermediate, and deep passes.
Hometown: Ellenwood, Ga.
High School: Cedar Grove
Size: 6-4/185
Recruiting: Committed to Vanderbilt
Scouting Report: McCrary is a smart quarterback, a quarterback on the high school level that likes to watch film and study defenses. He is a tall, he sees the field well, and he can keep plays alive with his feet and athleticism. He can improve on his footwork, setting his feet before delivering the passes, and shortening his delivery to make his a better QB. He does a nice job of standing tall in the pocket and he has the arm to make the throws.

The Next Five: Darryl Richardson (Seffner, Fla.), Eddie Printz (Marietta, Ga. - UCLA Commitment), Ryan Buchanan (Jackson, Ms.), Riley Ferguson (Matthews, N.C.), and Connor Mitch (Raleigh, N.C.).
