West: Top Five WRs

A deep and talented pool of receivers is led by Oakley (Calif.) Freedom pass-catcher Darrell Daniels...

West: Top Five Receivers
Location: Oakley, Calif.
High School: Freedom
Size: 6-3, 210
Recruiting: Arkansas, Michigan, Oklahoma State, UCLA, USC, Washington, Washington State
Scouting Report: Daniels is that big, physical receiver that colleges covet. When you throw in Daniels ability to run and catch anything thrown his way and it's easy to see why he's rated the top receiver in the region. Daniels is just a matchup nightmare at the high school level and can physically overwhelm a defense. He's not just a dangerous receiver but can return kicks and is a very good linebacker as well. His future is at receiver however and his upside is off the charts..
Location: Santa Monica, Calif.
High School: Santa Monica
Size: 5-11.5/185
Recruiting: Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, UCLA, Washington
Scouting Report: It was a tough call to drop Larue down to the No. 2 spot at receiver as he very well could be the most explosive pass catcher in the region. He's a true game breaker at receiver and pick/punt returns and is electric in the open field. He's the kind of athlete capable of catching a little five yard hitch, making five or six guys miss and taking it to the house. He has strong hands and is not just a deep threat, he's a polished and smooth route runner who knows how to get open.
Location: Mission Hills, Calif.
High School: Alemany
Size: 5-10, 180
Recruiting: California, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, Washington
Scouting Report: Mitchell is lined up all over the place at Alemany and is a game breaker at both running back and in the slot. He's also a very talented cover corner and could easily play on the defensive side of the ball in college. He may not have the same top end speed as Larue but he's an equally dynamic player in the open field and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. He's also an elite return man and has the talent to play early at the next level.
Location: Phoenix, Ariz.
High School: Brophy Prep
Size: 6-1/190
Recruiting: Arizona, Arizona State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UCLA, USC, Washington
Scouting Report: Allen is one of the fastest rising players out West and is picking up new offers by the day. He has good size and strength and may be the most polished receiver in the region. He's an explosive route runner with surprising speed and is able to run by a corner or safety offering over the top help. He has excellent body control and timing on jump balls and does a great adjusting to the ball. He has great hands, is a tremendous blocker and has all the physical tools to make an immediate impact in college.
Location: Westlake Village, Calif.
High School: Oaks Christian
Size: 6-3/195
Recruiting: Florida, Nebraska, Oregon State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA
Scouting Report: Owusu is similar to Daniels in that he's a big receiver who can really run. He's not as thick as Daniels but catches the ball just as well and does a great job of getting separation from a defender when the ball is in the air. He's a pure pass catcher and will be the kind of receiver his quarterback will feel confident throwing to on key third down plays. He's very polished as a receiver and looks to have that extra gear cutting in and out of his breaks.

The Next Five: John Ross (Long Beach Cabrillo, Calif.), Demorea Stringfellow (Moreno Valley Rancho Verde, Calif.), Julius Wilson (Culver City, Calif.), Jake Roh (Scottsdale Chaparral, Ariz.), Samajie Grant (Ontario Colony, Calif.)
