Bryan Adds New Suitors

Tanner Bryan won a state championship last season. As an encore, Bryan is working hard to put together the best season of his playing career in 2012. A strong campaign will only help Bryan's stock as a prospect. As the process moves along more and more schools are finding out about what an asset Tanner would be on the college level as both a student and an athlete.

"I have been hearing from some new schools lately," said Bryan. "Recently, I have heard from Georgia Tech, Duke, Vanderbilt, Harvard, Princeton and I just got something from LSU."

The new suitors are all sending information about football and academic pursuits.

So far the talented tight end has visited a pair of SEC campuses.

"I went to Mississippi State for junior day and I visited Vanderbilt," said Bryan. "I talked to Coach Koenning on the phone before I went up there for junior day.

"He really wanted me to come up there. All other schools have sent letters about junior day, but they wanted me to call him and talk with him.

"I went to Vanderbilt for a visit since I missed the other junior day. I got to meet with the tight ends' coach and take a tour of the campus.

"It was a nice trip."

When it comes to football and recruiting, Bryan has an open slate, but he is keeping busy during the track and field season.

"I am doing a lot of running to get some speed," said Bryan. "I am just getting into all of this and I am throwing the shot put.

"In the last meet I came in second to the guy that won the state powerlifting meet.

"I threw it 38 feet. I don't feel bad about that at all since I am just getting started."

Tanner is still looking for offer number one, but he believes that a strong spring and summer will help his cause.
