Here's a quick look around the West region on a few new scholarship offers that have gone out in the last few days.
*Michigan State has offered Tempe (Ariz.) Marcos De Niza defensive back Priest Willis. Willis was recently named the No. 2 safety in the West and has the ability to play some corner as well.
*Penn State has offered Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) defensive back Chris Hawkins. Hawkins nearly committed last week to Stanford or USC but decided to hold off and will go through the recruiting process.
*Utah has offered Atwater (Calif.) Buhach Colony offensive lineman Aaron Cochran. Cochran is the younger brother of Cal signee Matt Cochran and the Bears could be tough to beat.
*The Utes have also offered Petaluma (Calif.) Casa Grande jumbo athlete Elijah Qualls. Qualls will visit Cal on Friday, Oregon State on Monday and Oregon Tuesday but it will take a lot to beat out the Washington Huskies right now.
*Upland (Calif.) defensive end Joe Mathis landed an offer from Cal on Wednesday and word on the street has Alabama on the verge of offering as well.
*Redlands East Valley (Calif.) defensive end Kylie Fitts landed offers from Auburn and Houston Thursday. The Tigers don't come out West too often, but Fitts is a special talent.
*Santa Margarita (Calif.) athlete Johnny Stanton landed an offer from Cal. Washington and Air Force have also offered Stanton and each offer has been as a quarterback. Stanton is one of the regions top athletes who some feel may move to defense in college but he wants a shot at quarterback and it appears he'll get his wish.
*Corona (Calif.) Centennial OL Cameron Hunt landed offer No. 4 from Duke. The talented tackle has also been offered by Arizona State, Colorado and Washington State.
