"We have a good enough squad to make it happen again," said Brumfield, who did very well at the Baton Rouge NUC a few weeks ago. "I had a good time competing at the National Underclassmen Combine. I just came out here (to the five-star showcase) to do the best I could do."
"We have a good amount of returning starters," said Brossette. "We should be able to put together a squad that can get it done next year."
The Cubs are aiming to dethrone John Curtis Christian, the defending 2A state champ.
"To make it to the Dome," said Brumfield. "That's our goal, really."
Brossette should get plenty of carries, and he'll undoubtedly spend considerable time running behind Brumfield (6-4, 280).
"I want to get 2,000 yards next year," said Brossette. "And I'm shooting for 30 touchdowns."
What do the two Cubs say about each other?
"He's a real good blocker," said Brossette of Brumfield. "I like what he does."
"I love blocking for him," said Brumfield. "I love it. If I'm in the way, he'll run in my back, and I love a running back like that. I like an aggressive back running behind me."
Which schools are recruiting the two young prospects?
"I like Florida State a lot," said Brumfield. "They have speed, power, the full package. I like that. Personally, I really like Texas A&M and Texas Tech a lot right now. Those are two schools I really like."
"I like Georgia," said Brossette. "Georgia's a real good school, too."
"Personally, I haven't heard a lot of buzz from LSU," said Brumfield. "I got some mail from them a few weeks ago."
"I went to their Junior Day and will probably go to their spring game," said Brossette of LSU.
