"I really liked both UVa and Richmond," said Carr who will return to Charlottesville for UVa's spring game Apr. 14. "They are both really nice; I loved the coaches and environment at both schools, and I think I am close to getting an offer."
While the Virginia schools are showing him some love, his first real interest was from Vanderbilt.
"Coach Beatty, who was at Vandy and now at Illinois, was the first person I shook hands with. I am looking forward to going down there and seeing the school."
Carr travels down to Nashville this Friday for a full weekend of meeting with the coaching staff for the first time and exploring the campus.
"Coach Franklin, he seems genuinely passionate about his team. He is like a Coach London. They both put in the effort and it's their life. It's not just a job for them. They care about the individual, and I like that about both Virginia and Vandy. Vandy is also a nice contrast to the SEC schools. It's a great school, and the normal GPA is like a 4.6," said Carr, who carries a 4.0 GPA himself.
His attractive GPA has caught the eyes of Princeton, Harvard and Cornell.
"I started talking to Cornell coaches as well, so I am thinking about going to a camp there or Harvard and Princeton. They have sent me emails, actually just today, and invited me to their Junior Day, but that's the same day as the UVA Spring Game that I am attending."
While Carr is an exceptional student-athlete, he is keeping his fingers crossed that he can secure his first D I football scholarship. Perhaps it will come this weekend. For more on Darien Carr, keep it here on FOX Sports NEXT.
