Illinois Lineman Planning Return Trip To AU

Standout 2013 prospect Ethan Pocic discusses his visit to Auburn and gives his Top 12 schools.

Lemont, Ill.—A four-star prospect and the number six offensive tackle in the country, 6-6, 280 Ethan Pocic has offers from just about every major program in the country and on Monday he was on the Plains to check out the Auburn Tigers.

Having already visited Florida and Florida State, with Alabama and Tennessee on his plans for a southern swing, Pocic said he enjoyed his time at Auburn and likes what he sees out of the Tigers.

"It was great meeting with all the coaches and everything checking out the campus. It was just a great time," Pocic said. "I liked how cool the coaches are and how down-to-earth they are. They are very straightforward coaches. Pretty much that's what I'm looking for."

Much of his time was spent getting to know Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes. A coach that has had a lot of success with his players and on the recruiting trail since he's been at Auburn, Grimes and Head Coach Gene Chizik both made an impact on Pocic.

"I talked to Coach Grimes and Coach Chizik. They told me if I put the work in then good things will happen."

The younger brother of Illinois standout offensive lineman Graham Pocic, he is obviously a target for Big 10 schools as well with the Fighting Illini, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and several other schools in the mix early in the recruiting process. Pocic said at the moment he has narrowed his list somewhat, but there are still plenty of options for him.

"It's in the high 20's," Pocic said of his offers. "I have a Top 12 right now. It's Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, USC and Oklahoma.

"My brother has helped a lot because of the advice he's given me," he added. "He's told me everything, what to look for. Just things like that. He told me just to take my time and when the time was right I would know so just look around a little bit."

With several visits under his belt and more to come Pocic said he's already planning to get back to Auburn at some point and is gearing up to take one of his official visits to see the Tigers as well.

"I like it a lot down there," Pocic said. "I may go back in the summer, but for sure I'll take an official visit."
