"I really just starting thinking hard about Ole Miss recently," Ramsey said. "I got interested in them when they offered me during my season but they changed staffs. I just sat back and waited to see who they were going to hire, and I saw they got Coach (Hugh) Freeze. That just increased my interest because he was the first coach to offer me when he was at Arkansas State. And then I saw they hired Coach (Wesley) McGriff, and that just increased my interest even more because I'm so familiar with him because he comes from Vandy."
Ramsey talked more of his relationship with McGriff.
"We already had a great relationship when he was at Vandy so that just makes me that much more comfortable with Ole Miss now. He knows my game, and I know how he coaches. It was great getting to see him again down there at Ole Miss, and we just got to know one another even better."
Ramsey attended Ole Miss' elite junior day earlier this spring, so this trip was more about building relationships and taking in a practice more than touring the school.
"I just wanted to learn more about Ole Miss as a whole. This was my second trip there so I wanted to get to know their coaches better. I already took a tour of their campus and their facilities the last time I was down there. This was more about me building relationships with their coaches more than anything else. I have a great relationship with those guys, and I feel really comfortable around their staff. I don't rank schools, and I'm leaving my options open, but they'll be in the mix when it comes decision time."
What stood out the most during the trip?
"Just having that one-on-one time with them and sitting in their position meetings and seeing how they do things down there. Coach McGriff is energetic out there as he's always been since I started following him at Vandy a couple of years back. He keeps it lively back there and lets his players get after it. He just coaches with the same intensity as he did at Vandy and that was great to know. They have music blaring in the background at their practices and they practice at a fast pace and players are just getting after it. That's what stands out to me the most."
Ramsey also visited Louisville and Mississippi State's practices last week.
"I just like the whole Louisville coaching staff. I know they'll get after it. They're upgrading the things that Coach (Charlie) Strong wants. I think they're on the rise, although they've already been on top as the defending Big East champ."
The 2011 All-State selection talks about the things he liked about State during his trip to Starkville.
"That was my first trip to MSU so I wanted to get comfortable with them. They didn't get to practice that day because of the weather, but I got to sit in the team meetings and see how things are done. They did the whole spill and showed me really everything."
Any other trips on the horizon?
"Not right now. I'm sure I'll start taking in some more visits later this spring but spring break is over so I don't have any plans."
