Shepherd Enjoying the Process

The Lakewood (Calif.) receiver, Xavier Shepherd, talks about his offers and potential ones that could be coming...

Lakewood (Calif.) receiver Xavier Shepherd was at the NLA Elite 7on7 tournament this past weekend, playing for 1925, one of a handful of receivers for 1925 with BCS offers.

Shepherd said one local school is standing out in the early going.

"UCLA definitely stands out a lot to me," said Shepherd. "They're close to home and they're recruiting me pretty hard."

But Shepherd said that he's not focusing on any one school at this point, and Oregon State and Colorado, who have also offered, are very much in the race.

"One of my teammates, Malik Gilmore, is going up to Oregon State, so I like them and Colorado is really recruiting me too," said Shepherd.

Shepherd said that other schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Cal and Washington are also showing a good amount of interest.

The 5-9, 165-pounder said he's in no rush to make a decision.

"I still want to take my time, and take some visits, before I decide," said Shepherd.

Brandon is in his eighth year with and FOXSportsNext, currently as a National Recruiting Analyst and West Regional Manager. Prior to joining the Scout Recruiting Team, he was a team recruiting writer.  He's been covering recruiting for the Scout Network since 2003.
