Simmons: Quick Hitters

Here are some news and notes on prospects from around the South.

  • Brandon Kublanow picked up an offer from South Carolina on Thursday. He has over a dozen scholarship offers and he plans to visit South Carolina soon. He will be in Athens visiting Georgia this weekend.

  • Jordan Sheritt added an Ohio State offer this week. It is offer no. 22 for the defensive end out of Tampa (FL) Hillsborough. He knows a little about the Buckeyes - "They have one of the biggest alumni bases in the country along with great history of winning."

  • Adrian Baker is a 6-foot-1 corner out of Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna that is claiming offers from Boston College, Florida, and Florida State. He is very athletic and a prospect that you will likely be hearing a lot about in the future.

  • Ole Miss offered Milton (GA) running back Peyton Barber on Wednesday. Barber is a power back that gets yards after contact.

  • Vanderbilt offered four-star wide receiver Mike Williams of Lake Marion (SC). Williams is one of the top receivers in the South.

  • Reggie Wilkerson has seen his recruitment take off in recent weeks and he added offers from Texas A&M and Vanderbilt on Wednesday. Wilkerson is an athlete out of Citra, Fla. that is being recruited to play cornerback on the next level.

  • Jackson, Ga. defensive lineman Jay Woods picked up an offer from the USC Trojans on Wednesday. It is offer no. 15 for Woods and he is excited about the new offer.

  • Florida State offered four-star defensive end Naim Mustafaa this week. It is offer no. 22 for the Alpharetta, Ga. native.

  • Fayetteville, Ark. quarterback Austin Allen was offered by the Tennessee Volunteers recently and he plans to visit them soon.

  • Florida International offered quarterback Tyler Cogswell out of Plantation (FL) American Heritage.
    Chad Simmons is currently a National Recruiting Analyst for FOX Sports/Scout. He started with Scout in 2003 and then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become South Recruiting Manager.
