Severs Nabs First

2013 Macomb Senior High (Ill.) offensive lineman talks about getting his first offer and upcoming visits.

Macomb Senior High (Ill.) offensive lineman Nick Severs has seen his recruitment take off recently.

"I have been getting a lot of emails and mail," Severs said. "And Western Michigan was my first offer."

The Bronco's pulled the trigger during Severs recent visit.

"I went to visit Western Michigan Saturday," Severs said. "I really liked all the coaches and they had an exciting, up-tempo, and hard coached practice."

Plus, coming away with Severs first offer was an unexpected surprise.

"I wasn't expecting the offer," Severs said. "I had only talked with the coaches a few times, but they said they were excited to have me there visiting."

He added, "It was a great surprise."

Severs has also visited several other Midwestern schools.

"I have also visited Wisconsin and Illinois so far," Severs said. "Plus I am going to Illinois State and Iowa next weekend for visits."

Two schools, that the 6-foot-5, 250 pound lineman has been waiting to get a closer look at.

"I have been wanting to get to Iowa for a while," Severs said. "Because my brother is a freshman there. And I have been looking forward to meeting the offensive lineman coach at Illinois State."

And so far, Severs has had a very positive experience visiting schools.

"My visits have been very good so far," Severs said. "It's nice to be able to get out and see different colleges and get a chance to meet and talk with the coaches."

Severs has seen his recruitment pick up recently, with interest from schools all over the country.

"I hear from Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Illinois State, Ball State, Missouri, Minnesota, and Duke the most probably," Severs said.

But in the meantime, Severs has several off-season goals.

"I hope to put on a little more weight before the season," Severs said. "And my goal is to help my team make a deep playoff run again this season."
