"I enjoyed my time at Southern Miss," said Jones. "I had been there before for the 7 on 7 tournament, but this was my first time to see everything."
The campus stood out as a high point to the versatile Jones.
"I really liked everything I saw there," said Jones. "The campus is really nice and everything is right there together.
"I like it at USM and at Mississippi State. Mississippi State's campus is a little more spread out, but I like both of them."
Jones was able to talk some Xs and Os with the Golden Eagle coaches during his time on campus.
"In their offense I would be in the slot some and line up in the backfield some," said Jones. "They like to run the spread, so they move you around a lot.
"I like their offense and I feel like I could fit in there."
Two other programs have recently reached out to Jones to share their interest in learning more about him.
Jones is still waiting for offer number one, but he believes once college coaches see him in person, business will pick up.
"I know some schools are coming in the spring and I plan to go some camps this summer," said Jones. "I feel like some good things are going to happen for me if I keep working hard."
