Commissiong Enjoys His Tour of Georgia Tech

Bishop McNamara defensive tackle Darius Commissiong arrived in Atlanta Friday for a weekend visit to Georgia Tech. The 6'3"-305 junior is taking his time with his recruitment as he gets to know each school better.

Darius' weekend visit began with the Georgia Tech scrimmage Saturday morning. Following the scrimmage he spent some time with Tech defensive coordinator Al Groh about his plans for Darius. "He likes my versatility." Coach Groh feels that Commissiong could play inside or outside.

The defensive scheme used by schools recruiting Darius will not be a factor in his decision. Darius has played in both the 3-4 and the 4-3 schemes. "When I was at DeMatha we played the 4-3 and when I transferred to Bishop McNamara my sophomore year we played a 4-3 and we're going to play the 3-4 this year."

Commissiong and teammate Kevin Robbins also had a chance to see the campus and spend some time relaxing with some of the current players. Getting to see the campus for the first time was a surprise for Darius. "Touring the campus, you wouldn't know you were in a major city like Atlanta." Darius was surprised how big and secluded the campus was after finishing his tour.

Commissiong has over 15 offers with most of them coming from the ACC. "I'm taking it slow and I don't have any favorites or a top list but I am seriously considering Georgia Tech."

For Darius, being recruited has its ups and downs. He enjoys the visits as he did to Georgia Tech but there is also a downside. "When I'm back home it's hard to keep up with and it takes up a lot of your time."

Darius is not close to making his college choice nor does he have a time frame for making that decision. "If I could, I'd take my time and wear it out until signing day but I really don't have any set time".

Camps will not be a part of the summer plans for Darius. The only spring visit that Commissiong has planned right now will be a trip to Ann Arbor on April 14th to watch Michigan play.
