Tucker Remaining Patient

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly wide receiver Thomas Tucker doesn't have any qualms about his height. The 5'10", 175 lb. prospect plays with enough heart to compensate for those last few inches.

"I'm a physical receiver, going up for the ball when it's in the air. I might be short, but I'm going up and getting that ball. I've been working on my speed and trying to get my strength up since I'm smaller," he said.

Tucker, who will add cornerback to his list of positions next season, has been talking with some programs he likes and has his eye on a few others.

"I want to stay in the Pac-12; I like UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, Utah, and Colorado. I've been talking with UCLA and Utah, and I'm going to go to Utah's Junior Day in a few weeks, they asked me to come out, so hopefully I can get an offer from them, but if not, I'll just keep working," he said.

Though he has no favorites quite yet, there are a few things he's looking for in a collegiate program.

"I'm looking at a school's environment; I just want to feel like I'm at home. I'm also looking at academics; I think I'll probably study something that has to do with sports, like sports medicine," he said.

He's keeping busy in the off-season, working out with his teammates, trying to get to his goal weight of 185 lbs., and attending camps during the weekends.

"We hit the weight room every day, just to get bigger. We've been working on our plays to make sure everything is precise. I think it's going to be a pretty good season, and I hope we can go pretty far. We lost some seniors, but I think we'll be able to regroup and do some big things this year," he said.
