Riley Ferguson visits Gamecocks

Riley Ferguson, quarterback from Matthews-Butker, N.C., attended spring practice Tuesday at South Carolina. The talented prospect talked about the visit to Columbia.

"The visit was great," said Riley Ferguson. "We got there about 15 minutes into practice. We watched the whole practice. We watched the quarterbacks the whole time.

"After practice we walked around with coach Elliott and coach Mangus. They showed me around the facilities. I didn't get to see the whole campus today. I like their facilities a lot. Their locker rooms were real nice. The coaches' offices were nice. I liked everything."

The South Carolina staff will take a closer look at Ferguson this spring.

"They were just telling me they were glad I was down there," he said. "They can't wait to watch me throw in spring ball. They are going to come watch me during spring practice.

"They told me to keep my grades up. I like the staff a lot. I like the campus and staff a lot. They seem cool and down-to-earth."

Ferguson talked more about his interest in the Gamecocks.

"I like it now a lot," he said. "I went there on Thanksgiving for about an hour. My friend's family lives 10 minutes away. I went over there for a practice.

"I liked it today when I went. The athletes they have really stood out to me They have a ton of athletes on their team. Everything seems real calm and easy. Everyone seems to have fun."
