Sam Coverdale Wants To Go South

Chagrin Falls, Ohio offensive lineman Sam Coverdale recently made a return visit to the Georgia Tech campus. Coverdale made the trip to see more of the campus and to talk with the coaches.

On his first visit to Georgia Tech Sam Coverdale was able to see the bells and whistles of the campus and the facilities. "I really like the campus and school." This trip Sam was also able to see the new indoor practice facility and the student center.

The trip also allowed Coverdale to spend more time with the coaches. Sam spent some time with his recruiting coach, Mike Sewak. "He told me that they like my build and the way I am playing on the offensive line." Coverdale is 6'-7"-280. Tech feels Coverdale would be a good fit at tackle.

The visit reinforced Sam's opinion of Georgia Tech. "They have a great academics and play high caliber football in the ACC. I really like Georgia Tech a lot."

The fact that Sam wants to major in engineering is also a positive. "I'd like to get out of state and go south if I could. All in all I would rate Georgia Tech a 9.5 or a 10 for me."

In addition to the interest from Georgia Tech, Sam is also hearing from Northwestern, Louisvile, Cincinnati, Yale, and Harvard. "I just picked up my 8th offer from Northwestern this week."

Sam is hoping to receive an offer from Tech once they have a chance to evaluate him in person. He will have a chance to do that this summer. The trip back to Atlanta is one of his two planned visits. "Right now the only plans I have is to go visit Northwestern next week and then come back to Atlanta on June 9th for Georgia Tech's summer camp."

Coverdale will be looking for a school which is the best fit for him. Trust in the coaches and feeling comfortable on campus will be factors in finding that fit. Sam's decision could come at any time. "Ideally I feel that I will wait until I feel all my options are on the table. It could be before my season starts or after."
