Lee looking to visit Irish

One player looking to make his first visit to Notre Dame for this weekend's annual Blue Gold Game is Devante Lee. IrishEyes.com spoke with the Chicago native about his interest in the Irish.

Chicago (IL) Simeon product Devante Lee doesn't have any early scholarship offers but he has no shortage of programs showing interest and staying in contact.

"Right now I'm hearing from Mississippi, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ball State, Ohio, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M," said Lee. "Notre Dame has been in contact and I'm definitely trying to get up there for their spring game."

One reason Lee is excited about visiting the Irish is the work being done by a couple of ND pledges.

"I've been talking with Malik Zaire the quarterback who committed there and Colin McGovern," said Lee. "Malik has said nothing but great things about Notre Dame, the people, Stadium and the weight room. Notre Dame is also a great academic school."

What have the Irish been telling Lee about his chances of earning an offer?

"Notre Dame says my film looks good," said Lee. "However, they see me as a defensive end or an outside linebacker and my film shows me playing offense. So they want to see more film of me playing on defense."

Lee is hopeful of making the trip to South Bend this weekend and he may not be alone when he comes to campus -- teammate and Simeon linebacker Reggie Spearman could also be joining him on the trip.
