The 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver could add to his offer list, which sits at five, and he will use the spring and early part of the summer to visit campuses, build relationships with coaching staffs and hit a few campus in hopes of adding more offers.
"I don't want to go too far (from home)," Patton said. "Maybe around six hours (driving), something in that range. I don't know what I want, other than being (no more) than about six hours away. There's a couple of schools I'm thinking about, and I want to go visit some places."
In fact, his Wednesday will be busy as Rutgers offensive coordinator/receivers coach Dave Brock visits St. Elizabeth, and then he will get in a car and travel to Penn State for his first visit to the campus.
"I'm going up there for a spring practice," he said. "I don't know a lot about them. That's why I'm interested in going up there to see them. I know the new coach (Bill O'Brien) came from the NFL."
Rutgers may be the program Patton knows best because it was the first to offer, but the Scarlet Knights lost some of their first-offer appeal when the coaching staff changed in late January.
One constant, though, is Brock was at Boston College when the Eagles offered Patton.
"Coach Brock from Rutgers is coming down to see me Wednesday morning," Patton said. "I talk to a lot of the coaches over Facebook. I kind of get to know him over that, but I haven't talked to him in person yet.
"I'm going to try and get back up there for a spring practice, or maybe one of their camps in the summer."
As for Patton's latest two offers, Syracuse and N.C. State, Patton has very little knowledge.
"I don't really know much about (Syracuse)," he said. "I'm doing research on them. "N.C. State, I know one of my good friends, Xavier Griffin is going there."
Two other schools on Patton's radar are Ohio State and West Virginia.
"I think in the summer I want to go visit Ohio State and West Virginia," he said. "I've been talking to one of the Ohio State coaches over Facebook, and I sent him and West Virginia my highlight tape. He wants me to come out to one of their summer camps, so hopefully I make it out there."
As a junior, Patton made 28 catches for 644 yards and 10 touchdowns and had 37 tackles and intercepted three passes.
