"I got a message on Facebook from Coach Hevesy the O line coach at Mississippi State," said Clayborn. "He said that he was going to make me a Bulldog and that he wanted me to call him."
Clayborn had an idea of what was in store, so he was eager to pick up the phone.
"I called Coach Hevesy and then Coach Dan Mullen got on the phone," explained Clayborn. "Coach Mullen said that I had everything they were looking for in a Mississippi State lineman.
"He told me that they wanted to offer a scholarship and that they wanted me to be a Bulldog."
Offer number one was a thrill and a relief for the offensive tackle.
"I was so excited," said Clayborn. "All of my hard work has paid off.
"When I told my mama I had an offer, she just broke down. She was so proud.
"My first offer came from the SEC too and that's huge.
While the idea of wearing the Maroon and White is intriguing to Clayborn, he is not quite ready to pull the trigger on a commitment.
"Coach Mullen told me that he wanted me to take some time to think about everything and be sure I made the right decision for myself," said Clayborn. "I am going to do that. I don't want to rush into anything.
"I am going up there this weekend for the spring game, so I am going to talk to the coaches some more when I get up there.
"I am loving Mississippi State right now. They are showing me love, so I am showing them some right back."
