Memphis has offered several Texas prospects including John Tyler HS athlete Greg Ward.

Ward, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound athlete who runs a 4.5 forty yard dash, plays quarterback for his high school team but admits that Memphis is recruiting him as an athlete.

"Memphis was one of my first offers," Ward said. "They want me as an athlete, their coaches told me that they could see me play on either side of the ball."

Scout.com has him rated as a defensive corner and ranked currently as the No. 66 corner in the nation. According to Scout.com Texas Regional Recruiting Manager Greg Powers, Ward is definitely a special athlete. He currently plays quarterback for his high school team.

"Greg will likey be a corner in college," Powers told TigerAuthority.com. "He moves really well in open space. He has natural athletic ability. He makes crazy things happen when he has the football."

Ward was happy about the offer from Memphis, he currently has offers from the Tigers and Rice University.

"I was happy to get the offer," Ward said. "I will definitely try to take a visit there sometime this summer."

Ward led his Lions to the fifth round of the state playoffs in Class 5 A action in Texas.
