Smith Talks Buckeye Visit

Corey Smith continues to receive recruiting attention from some of the nation's top programs, and Saturday saw the East Mississippi Community College wide receiver visit Ohio State. How did things go with the Buckeyes?

Former Akron Buchtel wide receiver Corey Smith continues to draw major recruiting attention, and the East Mississippi Community College athlete holds several top offers.

Smith, 6-foot, 190-pounds, holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan State, Nebraska, and several others. He visited Ohio State on Saturday for the Buckeye spring game.

"Things went real good today," Smith stated. "They told me when grades come out for me in May they will offer, if things are good. They just want to be sure about the academics. It would mean a lot to me, having the opportunity to come back home and play. I spent time with Coach (Mike) Vrabel and Coach (Zach) Smith."

"I've known Coach Smith for a while, and he recruited me when I was at Akron Buchtel," he added. "He told me he's looking forward to me being at Ohio State, and he sees me being able to play early. He said I'm a player they need, and someone to make plays in that offense. I was also joking around with Coach Vrabel, and he was a cool guy."

Under Urban Meyer, Ohio State will be transitioning into the spread offense, which is quite a change from the previous system.

"I loved seeing the way they throw the ball around, and it's the same offense we run here," he explained. "I loved seeing this style, and it fits my game. Coach Smith told me he needs to get me on the phone with Coach Meyer this week, so we can get our relationship going."

"I'm just concentrating on my grades right now," he continued. "If Ohio State gives me an offer I will definitely take an official visit. They will be in my top-five with the offer, and I'm thrilled to have them considering me."
