Smierciak Visits Ball State

Aurora (OH) junior Zach Smierciak currently holds two offers. On Saturday, the outside linebacker visited one of his prospective schools.

6-foot-2.5, 220 pound junior Zach Smierciak currently holds offers from Ball State and Buffalo. On Saturday afternoon, the outside linebacker got a chance to make his way to Ball State's Spring game.

"I visited Ball State today. The visit went very well and I had the opportunity to meet with all of the coaches before and after the Spring game, as well as go through the campus again. The atmosphere was excellent. There were a lot of alumni and former players who came out to support the team. There were activities for the children as well as great energy from the coaches and players."

The junior says he speaking with the coaches allowed him to learn more about the school.

"We talked about their strength program and the commitment it requires to play in a Division I football program and be successful. We also discussed the transition from your senior year to your freshman year of college, and lastly about the academics and different majors Ball State is strong in."

As for the rest of the Spring, Smierciak doesn't have any more visits lined up, but says that could always change.

"Right now I'm going to focus heavily on track. I'll continue my college recruiting in June as I visit the schools I will be attending camp at; although, if an opportunity comes up to visit another school, I will surely take it."
