Several schools will be on hand Wednesday at West Lafayette High to see 2013 tight end Ben Griggs.
Griggs will participate in a pro-day of sorts in hopes of earning his first offer.
"I have to do it on my high schools field which is grass," Griggs said. "I was going to run a 40 and run agility drills but because I am on grass I will probably just run a lot of routes and do some position work."
Griggs hopes to show the coaches in attendance that he has made strides improving several parts of his game.
"I am mostly known for receiving but the coaches wanted me to develop my blocking," Griggs said. "And I definitely without a doubt did that. I improved enough to where the last game of the season was my best."
And Wednesday, Griggs hopes to show that off. "I wanted to get the coaches see my improvement," Griggs said.
Griggs spent Saturday visiting one of his schools of interest, Kentucky,
"I loved the coaching staff, the town, and overall Kentucky was awesome," Griggs said. "I went down for camp last summer, and it was good to get back down there."
He continued, "After emailing the coach, they invited me back down. I got down there and they told me that tight end was a position of need for them."
There are also several other schools that Griggs has set his sights on.
One of which he has already visited.
"Toledo was really neat," Griggs said. "I have gotten to see them in action and Toledo has great success with their tight ends and wide receivers and I think that they will continue that success."
And the others, Griggs has done his research on.
"I grew up watching Illinois play in the Big Ten," Griggs said. "Their use of the tight end and their success has been big. I like the coaching staff there and it's not too far from home."
He added, "Miami of Ohio also has a great campus and really knows how to use their tight ends."
