Levenberry headed to Florida State

Florida State received its ninth verbal commitment Tuesday for the recruiting class of 2013. Four-star LB E.J. Levenberry of Woodbridge (VA) C.D. Hylton High School pledged his future to the 'Noles.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher now has nine members of his 2013 recruiting class verbally committed, as Tuesday afternoon he heard some good news from four-star linebacker E.J. Levenberry from Woodbridge (VA) C.D. Hylton High School.

A 6-3, 220-pounder, Levenberry is the third linebacker commitment for the Seminoles -- the most highly rated, too. Orlando (FL) Evans High School's Rodderick Hoskins and Jacksonville (FL) First Coast High School's Tyrell Lyons have both been given three stars according to the rankings put together by Scout.com experts.

FSU is relatively thin at the linebacker position for this coming season, as two of its projected starters -- Vince Williams in the middle and converted safety Nick Moody on the strong side -- are seniors, not to mention the fact that weak-side defender Christian Jones is a junior with enough of a ceiling to possibly declare a year early for the draft if he transitions well from the strong side. Junior Telvin Smith rotates with Williams and is a playmaker, but second stringers Jeff Luc, Terrance Smith and Nigel Terrell have very little experience. Compounding the issue are rumors that Luc, who was once heavily coveted but is yet to pan out, is pushing for a transfer.

The 'Noles managed to sign a pair of linebackers for the 2012 class in Stone Mountain (GA) High School's Markuss Eligwe and First Coast's Reggie Northrup, with Eligwe a four-star recruit and Northrup a three-star prospect. Although Fisher did miss on five-star stud Josh Harvey-Clemons from Valdosta (GA) Lowndes High School, as he is headed to Georgia.

Levenberry, who Scout.com believes to be the No. 7 outside linebacker in the entire country, ultimately chose Florida State over Michigan.
