Getting to Know Young

St. Edward (OH) speedy junior Anthony Young has picked up four offers this off-season. Check out what he thinks about those schools as well as what other schools he's hearing from.

6-foot-1, 170 pound wide receiver Anthony Young is not only fast on the gridiron, but also on the track. The junior currently holds the 3rd best time in the nation for the indoor 200 meters at 21.3 seconds. It's that speed that has led Young to his first four offers.

Akron: "I grew up around there so I'm familiar with them. My friends and I would go to their games for fun. They're only about 40 minutes away from home so I'm comfortable there."

Kent State: "I've been there a couple times for track meets. They're right down the street from Akron. It's a nice, small campus. Also, their coaches are nice all around."

Northern Illinois: "I don't know much about them yet. I've heard that it's a nice place with a great coaching staff. They're coming to my school next week so I look forward to talking to them."

Toledo: "It's a nice school. The coach was here today to talk to me, so I got to learn more about them. They're up by the Michigan border which is a nice area."

Young has also been hearing from Michigan State, Northwestern, Indiana, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa and Louisville, and will be having Boston College and Michigan coming to his St. Edward High School this week.

While the junior doesn't have a timetable for when he plans on making his commitment, he has been thinking about what some of the factors in the decision will be.

"I want to major either in Special Education or Regular Education, so my school will need to offer that. I also need to click with the coaches. I want to love the place and feel like they will take care of me for the four or five years that I'm there."

As for this summer, Young doesn't have his summer camp schedule planned out yet but is hoping to attend a few.

"I'm trying out for the USA Track Team so once that's over, I'll be able to go to some camps."
