"Northwestern has been one of my favorite schools for a couple years now," said Joraskie. "(Back then, he thought) if I became a divison-one prospect, it would be one of my top schools."
Joraskie now is a division-one prospect with multiple scholarship offers on the table.
On Thursday, Northwestern coach Bob Heffner visited Mount Carmel (PA) High School, then took a picture of Joraskie, and sent it to Pat Fitzgerald. He was listed at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds. That was the only thing holding him back from an offer.
"They needed to confirm it, I guess," Joraskie said. "They offered me on the spot, then."
Shortly after, Joraskie received a phone call from NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald, who discussed what the offer carries.
"It's great, the academics are rated very highly in the country," said Joraskie. "That's a big deal to me. I like the academics. The campus is nice, it's in a nice area. They've been in bowl games the past four years. I'm excited to get out there and visit."
"I'm going to get out and visit places," Joraskie said. "I'm visiting Syracuse this weekend. I'm exicted to get out (to Northwestern). If I like it enough, if I get the feeling, absolutely, I'll commit."
Joraskie is eager to visit Northwestern, though no plans are in place just yet.
"I've talked to my parents," he said. "We're hoping either to go out in the middle of May, if that can't happen, then definitely in June."
