Wake Forest leads
"It was about a month ago when Coach Duffie called me with the Wake Forest offer," said Jaylon Scott. "He said they loved my intensity, my speed, and how physical I am for my size.
"I haven't watched a whole lot of film on Wake Forest, but I have seen them on TV. I know they have a great program, and I'd love to play there."
Scott was Second Team All-District (Texas 11/4A) in his junior season on a Carter Cowboys team that was only 3-7 with a new coaching staff.
"Individually, I felt I did a solid job," Scott said on last year's season. "I had two picks and around 40 tackles. I improved on my cover skills and my tackling. I got to play some offense against Arlington Seguin.
"This year I'm going to play more on offense and special teams. I probably won't get a whole lot of chances on defense because I'm respected in my district."
The Cowboys start spring ball on Monday, and Scott is expecting a steady stream of visitors to stop and see him while in Dallas.
"It's too many to list really," Scott explained. "Pretty much all of the Big 12, Wake Forest, Virginia, LSU, and Mississippi State.
"I'm going to commit after spring ball. Right now I have Wake Forest on top followed by LSU, Baylor, Virginia, and Oklahoma State. That's my top five right there."
This spring Scott has made unofficial visits to Baylor, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, USC, and UCLA. He wants to visit both Wake Forest and Virginia during the summer.
Scott's uncle, Nick Fellows, played at Dallas Skyline before going on to play at Baylor and Abilene Christian. Scott competed in track in the spring and had a personal best of 10.4 in the 100 meter dash.
