Jayhawks offer 2013 Ohio safety

When Kansas began recruiting Lakewood (OH) St. Edward defensive back Solomon Warfield less than a month ago, they told him an offer would be coming soon - delivered by Head Coach Charlie Weis. This week, they made good on that promise, when the three-star safety received a call from the first-year Jayhawks head coach.

"We just talked about the school," Solomon Warfield said. "How it's very nice, the football team is rebuilding and its great academics, a great place to be and I would be a great asset on the team."

Though he's still getting to know the Kansas program, he's eager to learn more and hopes to build a strong relationship with the coaching staff - including lead recruiter Rob Ianello - going forward.

Though he hasn't set a date, Warfield hopes to make a visit to the Lawrence, Kan. campus at some point.

I feel like if I go down and visit and I really like it, I'll build a relationship (with the program) and I'll love it a lot," he said.

Warfield currently holds offers from more than a dozen programs, including Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Iowa, Michegan State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
