Under the Radar: Tyler Douglas

There will be over 320 prospects from Florida that sign D-1 scholarships, however less than half hold D-1 offers at this time. More than a few top prospects are still waiting to take off recruiting wise and the best might be Fort Myers athlete Tyler Douglas.

Tyler Douglas

High School: Fort Myers

Positions: QB, WR, DB

Ht/Wt: 6'1, 190

Highlights: Junior Highlights

What to Like: The first position that Douglas will get recruited at is quarterback. Last year was his first year starting at the QB position and he led the Green Wave to their first district title in three years. Douglas is a spread type QB because of his plus athleticism and ability to make plays on the edge. He threw for over 1,300 yards with a 13/3 ratio while rushing for close to 700 yards.

Douglas has plus arm strength and can make the throws down the field. He will need to clean up his delivery, but that really speaks to his upside remaining at that position.

If he goes in another direction in terms of position it will be to wide receiver or defensive back. Douglas can really elevate and he possesses great ball skills. He showed the ability to be an elite wide receiver during the 7on7 season.

He has terrific size for a defensive back and he fits into the 'new theory' of safety play. Safeties have to be able to cover and Douglas can do that. At 6'1, 190 pounds he is just starting to fill out physically and Douglas should carry over 200 pounds down the road.

Douglas led his team to a number of tough wins last year with his clutch play-making. He is stand-out in track. He is already qualified for D-1 schools with solid grades. His time is coming on the recruiting trail, likely before the summer is over.

Douglas on Recruiting: "I am wide open to being recruited at any position that a college see's me having success at. I just love to play the game and will take advantage of whatever opportunity that I receive. I plan on waiting to make a decision, probably after our senior season."
