Kilgore Talks Hometown Bearcats

Local wide receiver Trey Kilgore talks about his offer from hometown program Cincinnati.

The comforts of home have led many local high school prospects to forgo leaving the confines of the Queen City and taking their talents to the bright lights of Nippert Stadium.

For Cincinnati (OH) St. Xavier High School wide receiver Trey Kilgore, adding an offer from his hometown team has peaked his interest in possibly wearing the Red and Black of the Bearcats.

"Getting my offer from Cincinnati was great and I loved it," said Kilgore. "It was a shocker when Coach (Butch) Jones talked with me and offered me. It was an eye opener when he told me I needed to continue my hard work and keep improving and progressing. That was the first offer from the type of school I want to be playing for in college."

While several former Bearcats made the transition from local high school stardom to all-conference performers over the years, Kilgore seems to understand what makes Cincinnati a possible destination for him after his years as a Bomber.

"Having a hometown offer especially from UC and them being in the Big East and doing what they've been doing these past few years is great," said Kilgore. "As much as my family wants me to experience something new and get out of the city, getting a scholarship to UC with it being a great school not just for football, but also academically for what I want to major in makes it top notch.

"So I definitely can't count them out as they are definitely up there."
