Newsome Continues Improvement

One player who had a few bright moments Saturday during the NFTC was Huber Heights (OH) Wayne offensive lineman Cole Newsome who held his own during one-on-one drills. Fox Sports Next spoke with Newsome to get the latest.

To say Cole Newsome will soon be fielding offers from Division One football programs is an understatement. Newsome, who stands 6-foot-3, 290-pounds continues to show solid technique at the camps he's been attending the past few months and Saturday was no different at the NFTC in Columbus, Ohio.

"It was a good day with a lot of good kids out here working hard and working to get better," said Newsome. "We worked a lot on technique and the one drill they worked with us a lot was our foot and the first step going with our punch."

For Newsome the highlight of the day came during one-on-one drills when he battled Ohio State pledge Billy Price and planted the highly ranked future Buckeye face first in the ground.

Newsome hopes the exposure helps him attract future offers but knows he's going to have to prove himself at camps.

"I'm hearing from a lot of schools that are coming into school," said Newsome. "Marshall, Michigan State, Indiana, Kentucky and Cincinnati are just a few of the schools that have stopped. Right now I'm planning to camp at Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan State and Indiana."

If Newsome can show the abilities he showed during the NFTC we'll soon be reporting multiple offers for the Southwest Ohio offensive lineman.
